A luxury senior housing facility being built in Valencia is now taking reservations ahead of its full grand opening which could be as early as December.

Oakmont of Santa Clarita, is accepting applications on its website for its 80 assisted living units.

As of last week, close to 50 percent of units at the complex had been reserved, said Executive Director Margie Veis.

Anyone interested can also visit the facility, located at 28650 Newhall Ranch Rd. near Rye Canyon Road, and attend one of the complex’s pre-leasing sessions. The facility is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday.

“Construction is going great,” Veis said. “We are almost all frame. Our next milestone is opening a model unit to show to interested people, which should be finished in early September.”

Construction of the property began earlier this year.

Interested residents can choose from either a studio, one or two bedroom units ranging in size between 400 to 1,192 square feet, according to its website.

The complex will offer programs specifically for people affected with dementia and Alzheimer’s. In all, the facility will have 55 assisted living units and 22 units dedicated to memory care.

Some of the amenities Oakmont will provide include an onsite movie theater, a wellness center, a beauty salon and gourmet meals from an executive chef.

“Our luxury units would be large and spacious” Veis said. “The company has high standards and expectations so we will offer a lot of programs that are not offered at other places. That’s what makes us stand out.”

The complex marks the first time a senior housing complex has been opened in the Santa Clarita Valley in 14 years.

Oakmont Senior Living, a Santa Rosa-based, family-operated company that will operate the facility, currently operates 19 other properties throughout California.
