After opening its doors in January, the luxury senior living community Oakmont of Santa Clarita is continuing to kick off a myriad of fun activities for its brand new residents.
Every week Oakmont staff take residents on an excursion, and recently traveled to Santa Paula to visit a museum.
“We look to do those excursions that maybe are a little bit out of the box, that you wouldn’t normally go to,” said Mary Dembkowski of Oakmont, “and of course taking into consideration what our residents want to do.”
At the end of February, Oakmont’s executive chef held an on-site cooking demonstration for residents.
“He loves to cook and he loves to share his passion for cooking,” Dembkowski said. “So that was a great activity and they really enjoyed that.”
In addition to planned activities and a variety of on-site five-star amenities– such as a movie theater, salon & day spa, restaurant-style fine dining and more –Oakmont staff also provide residents with the opportunity to host family gatherings and celebrations of their own.
One resident recently celebrated his 90th birthday with his family, who threw him a surprise party in Oakmont’s “grand living room” area.
“It was really like a big family reunion,” Dembkowski said. “Everyone just had a lovely time, so we love being able to offer our gorgeous spaces to our families to come in and just enjoy spending time with their loved ones.”
